I went from a GS500 to a R6 and while there are still plenty of people faster than me i can say i have much more fun on my R6, I was trying to sell my 500 but right now i am at the point where i don't have to sell it and might keep around just for the purpose of driving to the store or somewhere it will be parked for a while because i doubt someone is going to go thru a whole lot of effort to steal it. LOL

but i declined... w/ my bad luck right now, i'd rather not borrow stuff from him.

To sell to Verm... that's what he loves about them. :|

Verm... you can buy a nice used bike for $700 if you shop. My old XS1100 (not a sport bike but no slouch for its purposes) cost me about $400, and there are plenty of other "beater" bikes around that would be great for really pushing through the corners for a while. Lowside? With your leathers it would hardly even be a foul. Heck, get one, have someone slap some red and black paint on it, and use it for warming up before you go out to hit the chicanes on track day.

Verm, you might not want to borrow his bike, but you might try giving it a spin. Who knows, you might like it. A GS500 would definitely be cheaper, and less likely to be stolen.

Also, I wasn't pointing the finger at you saying that you are a slow rider. I was trying to be general in that for people who are relatively new, the differences between the 600's are negligable and won't make a difference until you get better. So, in essence, you should buy what you like. You know enough facts to make an informed decision, and anything spewed forth from forum members is just personal opinion anyway.

parking lot at school, broad daylight. it was parked at the edge so people that walk on the sidewalk can see it.

and nope, no locks... it wouldn't have mattered anyway since they lifted the bike. they didn't just roll it into the van.

it happened in less than 20 secs accdg to the witness that called 911.

Hrm, what if you chained it to something? They would have to cut the chain first... it may have slowed them down just enough for someone to say something to them... I dunno. I don't lock mine up either, just a disk lock depending where I park.

yeah, a chain might have helped. problem is, i don't always have a place to chain it to so i didn't get one.

well, anyway... i will look into some heavy duty chains for the next bike as well, maybe that will enable me to commute w/ it instead of being just a weekend rider.

i will go back to the police station at the college and tell them that i should be able to park my bike right next to their station since they didn't do good job of protecting student's vehicles.

if they agree, i'll bring it to school again.

and like i said, i will have lojack installed too.

That's a good idea verm, I doubt someone is going to steal a bike from in front of a security office.
