Could you possibly explain how it is a lowside if the tyres are still on the road?

You're going into the lowside.

You're in the process of lowsiding if you're going down IMO. You have lowsided once you've hit the ground and the bike is sliding away from you.


So if you're falling at an (uncontrolled) extreme angle (>60 degrees), you're lowsiding.
