First, you should not be riding on ANY public roadway until you are licensed.

Second, going back and blipping the throttle or otherwise making a nuisance of yourself will only produce two jerks instead of one.

Blipping the throttle may also cause said jerk to do something really bad, like spill oil or diesel at the local intersection...

Like the others have said, get legal first, then continue to practice. This guy might be more trouble than it's worth. You don't want him out for you and God forbid he does something stupid to your bike when it's parked infront of your house. Not that you have to kiss his butt and stay away from his house, but I wouldn't instigate him.

Once your legal and he tries to wave you down again, just wave and keep going.

I agree with MrGompers (and many other posts).

Get your license and a louder exhaust.

Drive by his house till he gets the point.

When you are completely legal, if he gives you crap, tell him to talk to the police about it.

also once your legal you wont be going back and forth several dozen times a day so his complaints will probably be over. If you really want to cure his jerkitude, after you get your liscense if you see him, stop, make a small polite apology for using the street as practice area, and comment on how the practice made it so that you could learn to be more mindfull on the street of kids and dogs and cars pulling out of driveways and such. Then you could say that now that you have your liscense you are not in the neighborhood so much and that you hope that the hard feelings are over.
I know this is a shocking statement, especailly considering your age and such, heck I woulda paintballed his house back then. But.... maybe this guy, once you apologize, turns out to be an important guy for getting you into college or has some serious hook ups somewhere or something. most likely it wont be, but its kind of one dimensional to say that people dont care that you're learning or just got a new bike cause you make them uncomfortable. cause, well, you dont care that you're making him uncomfortable cause you're learning or just got a new bike..... its a two way street. you never know when that neighbor you annoy has just the right tool you need to borrow or has the most beautiful daughter or has an internship available at his company.... play nice and it will return. BTW, nice guys DONT finish last, bad guys just peak in highschool.

....even if there isn't some direct karmic balancing... maybe if you are nice to him he'll realize that motorcyclists aren't as evil as he thinks.

Though, truth be told, he's probably just pissed that you are 17 and have a motorcycle he didn't have at your age. No solution to that problem.

I'll be honest, i grew up in a suburban neighborhood that was not a thorough-fair, so only the neighbors would drive by our house.
One day, one of the local kids got a go-cart. He would drive it up and down the street in the summer time, all day, all night, every five minutes. It was about as loud as a motorcycle. It was really annoying if you were sitting in the house with the windows open, or hanging outside.

Did we ever say anything? No, i didnt really feel as though it was my place and i guess my parents didnt either. But was it really annoying as hell? Yes.

Good point! Eventually you'll realize that mental midgets aren't worth the time and effort and you'll be glad you're not one of em. I wouldn't sweat it - he's a mentally challenged, probably w. no life. Acknowledge his pathetic existence and don't give it a second thought.

Get a valve stem core remover, a few seconds flattens two of his tires that can't be filled back up untill they get a new core inserted
