Ok, let me give you an example. When I first came to this board, I was asking if getting a '99 CBR600F4 was ok, and the guys on this board went through their "broken record" routine, and told me that no, it was not a proper starter bike. So I went and bought and old Nighthawk. So, I think there's at least a small possibility the people on this board saved my life by talking me out of that bike. So, I'd like to help others on this board the same way.TheImp

Ummm... calm down, I wasn't lecturing anyone. I just wasn't sure if that was a joke or not. My point is, if he has a GS500, he's not going to take off like a bulltet, if that's what he wants, he should go buy a full-fledged sport bike. I could care less if he wants to go fast, I'm just curious why he wants to do it with a GS500.
Bullcrap. You knew exactly what you implied as did I. And I don't need to calm down, I'm not losing my temper over the likes of you.
WTF? Seriously, calm the "fudge" down. Did I ever lecture him or tell him not to do it? No. He just sounded like he was making a joke, so I didn't know if he was serious, because "taking off like a bullet" doesn't sound like something most reasonable people want to do, at least not on the street. I couldn't care less how fast he goes, I was just curious.
And what does "over the likes of me" mean? You don't know me, so how can you judge whether I'm good enough to loose you temper over? And it sure as hell sounded like you lost your temper to me.
If he wants to get more power out of his bike, fine, I don't really care, I'll probably be doing the same thing eventually, but I don't see why I would need to take off like a bullet. So it sounded like a joke.
Calm the "fudge" down.
Blah blah blah, whether he was joking or not is irrelevant to the fact that you wanted to eventually point out that "you are wrong!". Again, perhaps I'm the only one here who sees this, but its really lame when you see someone on the verge of jumping on someone's case because they make a comment like "wanting to take off like a bullet". I personally believe that people should ride safely and wear their gear but trust me, people don't want to get a lecture or be chided over something as simple as "taking off like a bullet". Now I'm sure some people might appreciate your great skill in being the internet biker policeman, but to others its just annoying. And its not just you, its so many people on here which is why I'm writing this. If it were just you I'd simply ignore you, which is likely about to happen anyway.
To recap: Yes I think people should ride safely, but no, I don't think people should be poised and ready to come out firing over simple remarks like "taking off like a bullet".
And again, I don't need to calm the "fudge" down from the likes of you.

Yes indeed, and I can agree with you there. Thats exactly where I personally feel where people here can make a difference in getting others to make sensible choices. Anyhow, I've helped to derail this thread too much, so let's put it to rest. We may just see things differently is all, so no offense intended anymore.camthepyro wrote: Ok, let me give you an example.
