I know about Canadian classes not providing helmets, but you said "no sane"... which by implication says that the whole MSF is insane. Is that what you wanted to say?

And no, I wasn't in your class... but I met Steve-with-no-muffler-and-a-duct-taped-gas-tank. I also doubt they are that inconsistent about something with such obvious liability implications.

They require "Sturdy over-the ankle boots or shoes" (never says leather) ... which they checked on both days. They were very clear that their requirements were not the recommended street wear. I've seen the same thing in several "intro to motorcycling" books... they'll show "apropriate MSF BRC gear" and "apropriate street gear"...very different.

Why were you riding on the street in denim?

From the feedback I got, riderite is not representative of the typical MSF school. A lot of people did get quality training.

Quite a character, eh? Flirting with the students was more important than teaching the damn class.
When was your class? I'm just wondering how long that Steve guy has been riding like that.

That was in the Toronto class.

Oh yeah, sorry djbear, we've gone completely off topic.

djbear wrote:Hey Guys...
Just was reading about the MSF
I am in Canada... did a little research and found
'Gearing Up motorcycle rider training program'.

http://www.ridertraining.org/about.htm

My Location - Requirements (opens slow)
http://www.fanshawec.on.ca/coursesearch/CEGuide.pdf (pg 62)

The only Issue I have here is they require that I have a
DOT approved Helmet before I take the Course.

Would anyone know of another Canadian Course
or would you suggest to (I know I'm gonna regret this statement)
to get a Used helmet?
I took the course at Fanshawe last year...at a cost of $400+. You can get a helmet for less than $100...check out http://www.ingliscycle.com or take a trip over to Hully Gully, both in London. If you're spending $400 on the training the helmet cost doesn't look so bad!

Also, if you haven't already registered for the course, you might want to get on it...they fill up VERY quickly!!

Have fun!!

I'm just going by the fact that the MSF web page (not riderite) says that they supply helmets for the BRC. Dunno how representative riderite is... I've only ever taken the one "MSF" class. I hope they aren't, 'cause I thought it was poorly done.

I think we took the classes (or at least started them) at about the same time. I did the "classroom" (what a joke that was...Steve was the "teacher") on the 6th of this month, then the range on the 8th and 15th.. I'm guessing you did your range days on the 8th and 9th? I went to the DMV and got my M1 endorsement on the 25th.

I kind of got the impression that the bike (CBR954 if I recall) had been that way for a while....
