Online insurance
I'm looking to get online motorcycle insurance quotes. I've googled and done a few, but I'm always looking for the best price; considering the price is considerable. If any of you could offer suggestions it would be appreciated.

You're right about the variables. I live in what's considered the "bad side of town". An insurance agent once showed me the difference in quotes between my zip code and one a few miles away. They differed by 40%.
It's all a numbers game. A computer takes in factors such as where you live, how old you are, driving record, credit history and marital status, then crunches all the numbers to come up with a quote. The only way to find the best price is to get your own quote from as many underwriters as possible.

Be careful with this. I once checked into Progressive. 3 times within a 2 week period. Once at a race, once online, and the third to confirm the online quote. Got 3 different prices with about $900 difference.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.
My experience was that Progressive beat the competion by a mile I pay~$180 a year ($1,000 deductable). A friend (younger, & bigger capacity ride -1200cc BMW) had the same +ve experience with Progressive. You may want to play with the deductable and see what difference it makes, though it seems that Progressive target an area and/or a demographic to develop a business. It will be interesting to see how the rates go when it is time to renew.
Progressive were outrageously expensive when it came to the cage insurance though (clean license etc)...go figure.

If you're going through hell, keep going.

You really can't compare the motorcycle costs to the car costs. Progressive just wants a part of the motorcycle insurance game since there is alot of room for a big player.backrevin wrote:Progressive were outrageously expensive when it came to the cage insurance though (clean license etc)...go figure.
However, for cars they target higher risk drivers. If you don't have a clean driving record, progressive generally gives you a lower qoute than anyone else. There are some areas where they can compete with other insurance companies for good drivers, but not many.

Progressive's quote for full coverage sucked.
I pay $360/yr for full coverage on my Interceptor with State Farm. It was double that for progressive. I am only 22, but have a perfect driving record. Shop around... it pays off.
