My experience was that Progressive beat the competion by a mile I pay~$180 a year ($1,000 deductable). A friend (younger, & bigger capacity ride -1200cc BMW) had the same +ve experience with Progressive. You may want to play with the deductable and see what difference it makes, though it seems that Progressive target an area and/or a demographic to develop a business. It will be interesting to see how the rates go when it is time to renew.

Progressive were outrageously expensive when it came to the cage insurance though (clean license etc)...go figure.

I had the same problem with progressive cage insurance. Maybe its a Conn thing ? I dropped them and went with GMAC insurance ($600 cheaper) Which is funny because I no longer own any GM cages. They were just as willing to take my money tho.

shoping around is the best thing you can do. I tried some insurance recommended here (dairly land, rider) some commercial guys progressive, state farm, geico, and then more I found on the internet. Progressive was half of the other best offer.

Of course it depends on your vehicle (82 xz 550), age (23), record (perfect), area (good part of d.c. metro) and a few other factors.

Best thing to do is shop around instead of dropping a few extra c notes.

Try calling a few local motorcycle dealerships. My lowest quote before calling was $680 full coverage. I called the dealership and their insurance guy got me $400 a year, and if I used my dear ol dad as the name it dropped to $196 a year.

Also if I want to buy a new GSXR 600 or 750 combined with my SV it would be $550 a year full coverage for both bikes.

I'm using Safeco, look them up.
