I have heard on more than one occasion people saying in essence they would feel silly on a cruiser if they had a full-face helmet.

The implication is if I wanted a cruiser to tool around on, that I'd have to go around looking like a dillweed with spikes and a half-helmet, and possibly a mullet.

Why would anyone with a brain think you have to wear anything more than what protects you, looks non-mentally challenged, and is comfortable?

I wore a full face when I had a cruiser, my Aunt rides a v-star 1100 and has a HJC CL-14. My uncle has a goldwing and is considering a new helmet that's a fullface.

It's all a matter of perspective. And what you're willing to cover up.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Black full face helmet with blacked out visor is apparently acceptable cruiser gear, as evidenced by the guy I saw on a Harley last night (yes, dark visor at nighttime).

Who cares what anyone else thinks? Be your own person, think for yourself. Makes no difference what kind of bike you ride, a wreck is a wreck. You know when you start riding what the consequences are. Does riding a cruiser somehow mean your face couldn't turn to hamburger if you dump it at speed?

Think for yourself, don't worry about what anyone else thinks you should look like. Vanity is for the vain.

I don't care what anyone else chooses to wear (or not). I'm gonna wear my full-face no matter whether I'm on my Bonneville (standard), Marauder (cruiser), or Reflex (scooter.) I'm far too old and ornery to give a damn whether anyone likes it or not, and as far as 'looking good' goes...... well, I lost that battle a long time ago!!

+1. wear what you want folks. were all adults and can make our own choices and such. if someone wants to wear an open face helmet or no helmet, let em. If they have half a clue they know that full face provides the most protection, so telling them that wont make a lick of difference. They want to wear and do what they want. If thats what they want to do and enjoy doing it. . . i dont see why we should care.
