Anyone have good feedback about any particular rain gear for longer distance trips? I'd like to get something cheap, yet effective.

I cant find anything less than $80 for a 2 piece from any dealers/shops in my area.

I have also been completely unable to find anyone that sells booties at all.

I once found a package with a cheap full rain suit in it, same material like those cheap ponchos, with top, pants, and booties...but I cant for the life of me remember where, but they were like $30...maybe I dreamed it.

I want raingear but I want something I can shove in my saddlebag and just throw on over my regular gear (and need booties with the elastic band!) but not worry about how much I spent if it gets stolen out of the bags.

There's a suit called Frogg Togg, they fit over your gear real well, are lite weight, pack down small, and easy on. Check in at bing.com, I believe they carry them . Can't give you a price off hand, but I think they're in the $80 range.
Dennis Kirk carries a lot of others too, from $20 on up.

if you dont mind looking like a banana, there is allways those yellow oiler pants (I wear them at work underground) you can get fairly cheap sets, I suppose the only problem would be that you may have to tape the legs down around your boots so they dont flutter a bit, but the ones I wear at work slide easily over my work boots so the size should be about right.

*NOTE*
did a google search, found they arnt only in yellow (no banana looks! right on.)

the boots (thats the yellow I was talking about, just to get an idea.) The pants are large enough to slide over them when putting on. (boots 1st, oilers second)

I bought a yellow medium-heavy 2-piece banana suit at Sam's club for $30. It works awesome!

The pants is of overall style. The suit doesn't breathe well, but it's effective at keeping the rain out.

I got a fairly inexpenive one made of rubberized cloth at a sporting goods store. It has built in vents all around to keep you from sweating up a storm. I've probably been using it for over a decade now. Check the hunting department of large sporting goods stores.

Stay away from the flimsy plastic suits made with that stuff they use for cheap ponchos. They might keep you dry if you're standing in the rain, but the wind blast on a bike will tear them to shreds in under an hour.

http://www.froggtoggs.com/ this stuff is the best. Keeps ya warm, dry and can fit over riding gear.

Harley Davidson shops have some booties that are waterproof, fit over your regular boots and go almost to the knee and are only about $30.00 a pair.

A lot of long distance riders just use "Totes." Stretchable to go over your boots and fairly easy to pack.

Ot you could just get waterproof boots.
