First ride impressions

wow.

first off, my 'little' vstar did just fine. It was very comfortable, I'm 6'5" and I didn't feel cramped like I was expecting. And the acceleration is perfect for my skill level. And I can easily keep up with/pass traffic. Although, I did notice a lack of get up and go when travelling around 80(kph) or so... but I wasn't letting the rpm's get too high(break in period) so I guess I don't know it's capabilities just yet.

I took it down a mall parking lot and did some emergency braking and slow-speed manuvering. Handles really well, that low centre of gravity really inspires confidence.

weather was perfect, tons of bikes were out, got lots of people waving at me(harley, metric, and sport riders), some even approaching me to discuss bikes.(if i was stopped somewhere) And any kids, usually boys, would stop in there tracks and stare until I was out of view, quite funny:)

It was a pretty satisfying experiance. I'm totally hooked... I rode down to the hardware store for a single bolt last night.

awesome! congrats!
i'm literally counting down the hours until I take my fj for a ride or the first time. Its at the shop getting its new rear tire put on. It will be my first ride on a bike larger then 900 cc's.

I might even have to duck out of work early so I can get there earlier

love the feeling of the first ride on a new (even if its just new to you) bike!

Your lack of "get up and go" at 80mph is standard. I think that is pretty much close to her usable power. But the V-Star is a great bike. Just be prepared for a valve adjustment at every service interval.

Oh, 80 KPH....sorry, thought MPH. As far as break-in, just don't do any hard accelerating and if cruising for any amount of time, try to vary your speed so the cylinder temps will vary letting the rings seat in better. And make sure you get the 600 mile service perfomed. Enjoy!!

there was one thing that kinda got on my nerves during the ride. The seat was comfortable, but I felt that everytime I stopped at a streetlight, that I need to stand up and re-arrange "the boys". I felt like I should turn my head and cough on more than one occasion

I'm hoping this is related to my leg position and when I get my foot control extensions this will go away.
