When I ride on trips I have a soft back that I mount on the passengers seat. I put my DSLR dead in the center of the pack. I only bring one lens. I know damage could be done to the camera if I crashed but I'm taking that risk. I figure if I crash bad enough to break my camera, I'll have more things to worry about than my camera.

Get cheap one time use camera, they can handle a bit of abuse...
I remember what a deer looks like, so I don't need to carry a camera, but if I am riding by the beach.....

I keep my camera in one of my pockets being that it's really slim. I have a nice cell phone camera that takes great pics that's imported from korea, 2MP but they will show up here in the summer.

Soon I'll have this video cam mounted: http://street-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi-bi ... 1134701309

maybe i'm carrying too many electronics...

A bulky high-end camera with multiple lenses is probably not the best thing for snapping a pic on a bike. I'd suggest a camera that's better suited to the task. I've seen some 8 megapixel digitals with decent lenses and zoom capabilities that fit nicely on a belt case. That's where I carry mine.

i take my camera with me when i go out a lot now that i have a decent camera (canon rebel xt with a telephoto and other lenses.

I just strap my regular camera bag (about the size of a 4 slice toaster) to my bike with a bungie net either on my seat or the luggage carrier (honda shadow 750)

i prefer to have it on the seat as a little extra protection and would recommend a little extra foam cushioning inside the camera bag. but if i have a passenger it could go on the tail luggage carrier just fine.

Like someone else mentioned, if you have room for a Pelican case, strap that on your bike, you wouldn't have to worry much about your camera even if the case came off the bike so long as the case didn't come open.

bok, nice avatar.

yeah i think a nicer case might be in my future just for the abuse it "could" take.

and thanks Keysman :)

I have a Canon SD450 so it's small enough to keep in my jacket pocket :)
