Finally bought some riding gear today!

I figured I'd better get some stuff before I end up getting hurt if I ever crash.

Bought an Alpinestars TZ-1 jacket and SP-3 gauntlet style gloves. I am extremely impressed with their quality! Nice nice nice stuff. They were pricey, but I believe they are worth every penny.

I need to buy some boots and pants, I will have to wait a couple more weeks.

Can anyone recommend some pants that offer good protection? I'd rather go with something that looks like jeans if that is possible.

Cool.

I myself am playing catch up on riding gear.
For the longest time all I had was a helmet, but then I got a tank bag, and this kick-a$s Oakley backpack that latches onto a vest rather than using straps.
Previous to that the only backpack I had was this clunky hideous piece of junk I got for $7 at the thrift store.

Might want to invest in some actual protective gear...

As for boots and pants (if you can) I'd stick with Alpinestars. They make great products, and if you luck out you can find their stuff at a reasonable price. I got a pair of brand new SMX-3 boots off of ebay (Newenough's auction) for $109. Tour Master would probably be my 2nd choice for pants if you went textile.

Just be sure to keep your flip-flops in the tank bag and ride barefoot so they don't fly off on the highway.
:frusty:

Seriously dude, get some protective gear. Don't let this happen to you Image

You totally crack me up, in almost every post you make you say something that sounds like it came from a kindergardener that's trying to act like he knows what he's talking about and keeps butting into adult conversations.

I'm not trying to cut you down or anything, but have you ever thought of just listening for a while until you have some idea what you're talking about and then chimeing in so you at least look like you have some clue.

Seriously, I'm not trying to bash you, just save you some grief in the future.

heheh, that cracks me up to.

OP says he got new riding gear (jacket and gloves is gear)

I Fly got new riding gear too, it's a backpack, it protects his back... from.... stuff.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Now while I agree that I-Fly is a tool, I commute with one of these:

The back has a very stiff, plastic/metal reinforced backpad with lots of foam padding. I honestly think that if I were to get off wearing this, it would protect my back. Maybe not as well as a real back protector, but it adds an element of safety.
