I'm honestly at this point really considering the Ducati 695 for my replacement bike. Everything I hear about it I like.

but....

It seems they have a new clutch going into this new bike unless I'm very much mistaken. It will be very interesting to see how this works out. Not too sure if I should be weary of a brand new bike or not. My only complaint would be this guys gona be brand spankin new and probobly on high demand 'm guessing... MSRP... :( Plus they got some funky looking color scheme there!

What is everyones thoughts on this new Duc?

I'm always wary of new tech. For example the new Triumph 675 is an awesome bike, but it's got some quirks and lots of riders are complaining about issues requiring warranty service. One particularly unnerving problem is their spewing oil onto the rear tire :(

Mom got a G20 Infiniti the first year they came out, major electrical issues. Rear seal blew at 15K.

First year of the Mini, major electrical problems.

Usually these kinks get worked out after the first year of production on most vehicles, car or bike. Now perhaps the new Duc is just a rebored Monster and pretty much the same, in which case you're probably OK, but all the same I'd wait a year or so...

the new clutch is the same clutch that is on the monster S2R, new for the baby monster but proven in the rest of the line.

the new motor is based off the old one, they simply increased the bore and reduced the stroke plus a few other small upgrades.

nice part is the 695 is selling for EXACTLY what the old 620 sold for, they left the price alone.

as for the paint schemes, all the monsters use the same paint schemes

I'm with you on getting the duc as a second bike. When I get a good bit of miles on my GS and save up some decent funds, it'll be mine

As far as the clutch goes I'm thinking that it is the same one that they put in to the Monster S2R800 in '05. It is an easy pull slipper clutch that is light years better than the tamborine-sounding dry clutches of the bigger ducks or the harder-pull wet clutch the 620s had pre-'04. I've got this clutch in an S2R and it works great.
