I thought this area was bad for motorcyclists but...

it doesn't hold a candle to how they treat bicyclists.

Just got run off the road on my road bike. Going downhill doing 35 in a 25 (school zone), no reason for anyone trying to pass me. Have a woman come up and slam on her horn. Scared the "poo poo" out of me.

She then tried to run me off the road and did just that. Went screaming over the road side gravel, managed to take a rock between the sprocket and the chain which tore the link open then did a nice 20 foot slide hugging a bike into the woods where I had the luck to be stopped by my head smacking a tree and splitting my helmet.

Luckily nothing expensive was messed up on the bike, the bike shop replaced my chain free of charge but my $60 helmet was toast.

Can't imagine how bad that would have been on a motorcycle but I have a newfound respect for helmets.

That sucks, people will do anything to save an extra 30 seconds on their way home.

Holy cow, man. Glad you're not all beat up from that! Keep your fellow riders posted to watch out for said broom-rider and perhaps she won't be able to pull junk like this any more.

Also, see if you can report this to the police, or state patrol. In my state, there is an online form where you can report aggresive driving, and these reports show up if/when the person is pulled over. Granted, you need the license plate number, but it won't hurt to ask around.

The wife and I were run off the road TWO TIMES in the same day on our road tandem!!!

Fortunately I was able to save us from crashing.

They were both Canadian drivers. They come over here to the U.S. side for cheaper gas and the casinos.

The next day (yesterday) we were riding our tandem again...and we had a Canuck not even move over (no shoulder where we were riding)...he was so close all I would have had to do was move my elbow out about 6" and I woulda been hit.

Worst thing?

We have a Burley trailer (bright yellow/blue w/orange safety flag) that our 3-1/2 year old son rides in. God have mercy on the person that injures or kills my wife and/or son. Because I won't.

You let your 3 1/2 year old ride in a trailer behind you? No offense, but that seems a little wrong. If he was old enough to say he wanted to ride with you, that's one thing, but just putting him in a trailer, because you want to take him with you, just seems very risky.

I was cycling home one time and a guy in a reefer truck tried to run me off the road. He started screaming at me so I screamed right back at him. When I started to ride again,he once again veered over as if to hit me. He did this 3 times.
Where this happened had plenty of room. It was a wide street with no other traffic but me on my bike and he in his big rig.

People who drive around with advertising on their vehicles should be more careful what they do. As soon as I got home, I phoned in and reported him. Funny thing is this was not a truck route. He was simply cutting through neighbourhoods to avoid the rush hour traffic on the main roads.
