is there anyway to tell online if ur liscence plate is taken?

'Grip, I know in New York you go to our state DMV page and then choose the links that direct you to custom and personalized plates and you can type in your plate, view how it looks as a plate, and then check the availability of that particular plate combo. It may be the same for your state.
