Okay - I am chiming in with Zootech on this one. One or the other of us must be ill again.
You don't NEED to know the physics of how it works (we had a guy actually demonstrate the physics of it on here last year), you just have to have faith that counter steering is what is happening when you lean your bike over.
**If you have both hands on the bars, lean and look round the corner in a turn countersteering WILL take care of itself.**

Stupidest thing I've ready lately, you win the prize... do you want a trophy?earwig wrote:Sev... when going around turns even fast you do not countersteer... you lean; althought I do hear what you are saying about avoiding an object. You need to countersteer at going slow speeds to balance the bike because if you lean over going too slow the bike will just tip over.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

How is it stupid? I'd love to see you go around a bend and countersteer at 60 miles an hour. Do you have your MSF book? You do not countersteer when going around a turn fast, period.

you lean into turns going fast, you countersteer when your going really fast. If you countersteer when your going slow you will fall. If you lean while going slow you just need to have good balance.

YES YOU DO!!!!!. When you are going very fast and leaning very low you countersteer to balance the bike and to keep it from hittin the deck. Watch a motoGP video and notice how they countersteer in turns. . ., why do you think you dont countersteet at high speeds. . . what tells you that you dont, have you tried it?

Three RANDOM SOURCES THAT OUTRIGHT STATE YOU COUNTERSTEER AT HIGHSPEEDS.
Apparently on my way home from work that left hand turn I took by pushing OUT on my left hand handlebar at 60kmh didn't actually happen, and I certainly didn't scrape a peg while doing so. That wouldn't make any sense.
I must have crashed on the way home.

they are leaning, sure, but not extremely leanning, find me a motoGP rider whos knee to the ground or close and not counterstreerin, id be impresssed, and id also like to know what information you have read that says you dont countersteer at high speed, and id like you to try and countersteer at low speed.
