by-passing igniton

#1 Unread post by gilly »

Hi,

I just received a Honda nsr75x bike from my uncle.it looks to be a good 10-15 years old.he cant quite remember. well it hasnt been going for a while and there is no key. I was wondering would anyone be able to guide me how to by pass the ignition (hot-wire it) p.s i didnt nick it.. There is 4 wires going into(out-of) the igniton. A red and a black which show 8.5V accross them so Im assuming this is the power from the battery. There is two others a green one and a black one with a white line in it. What do i do with these two wires???There is no gurantee that this bike will run but to get a spark from the plug would be a start. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Ron

The best thing to do is to purchase a haynes or clymer manual for the bike and look up t he wiring diagram. The contain the colour codes and all other info you need. Another alternative would be to go to a dealer with the key code (normally embossed onto the lock) and get a key made. You are going to need a key if you're going to ride the bike anyway.
