I don't even recall what my buddy's SV sounded like stock, but Yoshimura makes a couple of great products to fix the noisey engine problem! My buddy has the slip-on cans on his and they are throatier and sound better than my other buddy's SuperHawk with Staintune high pipes. But you have been correctly advised....SuperHawks and SV1000's are both excellent V-twin choices. Around here there are leftovers of both so you can really get some deals. Buell's new XB12S is super-cool, but I don't see you getting much of a deal on one of those just yet. I suggest you try to find a low-mileage 2003 naked SV1000. They have a way comfy riding position and you could mount a variety of flyscreens. Keep us informed on the hunt....
