Vulcan 2000 (aka the barge)

I'm just wondering if anyone actually owns a Vulcan 2000.

I ask, because I sat on one at the dealer yesterday, and it was by far the heaviest bike (or heaviest feeling) I have ever been witness to! It made the VTX 1800 feel like a Rebel!

Just lifting the bike off the stand felt like I was trying to lift a dead horse. I am by no means a small guy either... I can't imagine trying to pick this bike up from a drop.

I realize the bike has the same displacement as my car, but for pete's sake! I think I could lift the front end of my car just as easily.. (exaggeration, yes. But the bike really is heavy).

So, anyone own one of these? Does it feel lighter once it is moving? heh

Yeah it certainly is huge...

However so is every large cruiser...but the Vulcan is just Huge.

The rushed to put it out to beat Honda in the CC wars and they only succeeded in creating a bike that edged out the VTX CC wise, but saddled with that extra weight, The Vulcan turned out to have slower times and speeds than the VTX.

My buddy has the Vulcan 2000cc and it is a fast bike and he handles it fine.
We really didn't get a chance to race yet, but we had fun weaving through traffic the other day. He loves the bike, but once he saw a Roadliner in person, he's thinking about trading it in.

in a race of a vulcan 2000 vs a warrior my money would be on the warrior.

one of the managers where i work got a vulcan 2000 as his first bike, the thing is enourmous, lots of stuff hanging low too, definately not designed to turn much.

Like I said, we didn't get to race each other yet, but he raced a heavily moded Harley mutual friend of ours and he said he killed him. When I race our Harley friend, we're about even. Keep in mind this guy has about 6 grand in his Harley engine, dropped 2 teeth in his front pulley, and installed a 6 speed tranny. I always kill him when the road starts to turn, but he is happy just keeping up with me when the road is straight. I'll let you guys know when I race my vulcan buddy what happens.

the warrior turns about a 12.50 in stock trim according to the source I checked (Motorcylist Magazine)

the vulcan 2000 turns about a 12.40 according to the same source.

basically the Vulcan 2k and warrior about about even, in a race between the 2 it would be up to rider skill

If you think that the Vulcan 2000 is heavy , try pushing a Triumph Rocket Triple around .........

Your living in the past brother! This is 2006 and the beginning of the muscle
cruisers! They're making them bigger and stronger now a these days! Why else would they have made the Warrior a lightweight aluminum frame with Yamaha R1 suspension and a 1700cc air cooled belt driven engine? With an air kit and pciii, I'm pushing 90hp and 110lbs of tq on my 600 plus pound cruiser! :D
