Im new

Just wanted to say hola, I'm 16 1/2 and about to take the ca m1 permit test. I edit *am looking* into taking an msf course as well after that, just thought id register to learn some more about bikes, especially what beginner bike to get (currently interested in the ninja 250r)

I thought it was fun as well, and I learned ALOT about safety stuff, like swerving, panic braking, etc, even though I started riding before my class.

I had a few questions about the class: Do they seperate into groups? for like more experienced riders or something? I have ridden gopeds and dirtbikes/atvs, but I have no experience on a real motorcycle. Also, for the msf classes, do you normally need a m1 permit or license to take it? because I have my driving permit, and I was debating wether or not to take a msf course before or after i tried to get the actual m1 permit.

First question, in my msf they didnt split us into groups based on prior experince. Then again everyone in my MSF did really well.

Second question.. It depends on the state MA requires that you have your Motorcycle permit while our neighbor state of RI doesn't. So If you take the MSF in MA you dont need the permit if your getting your license in RI. But if your getting your license in MA then you do.

In my MSF class they didn't split us by experience, I think they were hoping the more experienced riders would make the less experienced push themselves or something, so they don't do the whole thing at 5mph.

In georgia, you don't need to have any kind of license to take the course (except for identification purposes).

It depends on the instructors but the vast majority of people who take the MSF are inexperienced riders.

Depends on where you live but unlikely as the MSF course is designed to teach new riders *before* they get their license.
