I was looking at the rear end of my ninja 250 today and I hate the look of that chunk of plastic on the rear...Anyone who owns one of these ninja 250 knows what im talking about...The license plate atatches to it...I don't like it and want to take it off, If I do I will buy some new blinkers for it that match the front ones...(front ones are aftermarket)Because the rear blinkers are attached to this peice of plastic. So I was wondering if anyone here has ever taken off that ugly thing on the rear and where would I attach my license plate if I did this? Thanks
A lot of people take them off (not here necessarily) and usually people make a bracket out of some hardware store metal and attach both the license and the turn signal pods. Also, there is a plastic plate in the bottom of the tail light that can be removed and replaced with clear plastic (e.g. from a CD jewel case) to light the plate.
Alternately, you can do the same thing as the previous owner of my 88 ninja and saw off as much as you can without affecting the signals and plate. It looks better than stock since most of the sawed off part is behind the license plate.
heres the butt of your bike. if you notice my rear signals are gone. they are there you just dont no it yet. see the spaces either side of the tailight, yup the two little red squares on your bike are empty now. go buy some light sockets (3/4 inch) and use the wires from your current signals to hook them up.

these are on the bottom inside of the stupid black thing. my plan is to take it out and use the to mount a piece of stainless 7x9.5. i havent thought much about the license plate, but for the light im gonna put a hole in the bottom of said stainless and mount a light there. plate will b nearby of course.
okay, so ignore my first post. the back of your bike has three spaces for lights, but only the middleone has one. so get some 3/4 inch light sockets and rewire your signals to them. put them in these spaces next to the brake light. im gonna get some stainless steel 7x9.5 that will cover the hole created by the black piece being gone. ill drill holes and reinsert the screws that kept the black piece on there. the license plate is already on a bit of a frame take the whole thing off the black piece and bend it so it makes the license plate face right. screw this to the new stainless piece. drill a hole in the stainless and insert the light from the black piece. im not quite done, but i think its gonna work.
anymore questions just ask.
