They probably had the brilliant idea of flying their death kites near public roads.

Pakistan has been trying to ban kites for a while, citing deaths from monofilimant used as kite string... and the fact that some people apply broken glass, razor blades, etc. to their strings for "combat" kite flying.

They need to be introduced to RC model airplanes... specifically:

No more kite string danger... and RC airplanes are enough more expensive to keep the numbers lower than kites.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

Yeah right...then they'll tape daggers to the front of them and fly them over a school.

That is the most insane story I've ever read! These people make killer kites? What the hell is wrong with them? Don't they have cable television? They sound WAY too bored to me! LOL!

It's a part of the culture tracing back a long long way. Basically there would be contests where kites equipped with a string coated in small glass shards (small section) would "fight" in that the two pilots would attempt to cut the others string while keeping their string intact.

It's a pretty big challenge, and quite excting to actually witness, but with the advent of civilization it's becoming yet another cultural phenominon that's being eradicated.

I blame more the idiot who chose to fly his kite where he did then the sport as a whole. Especially considering that we as bikers don't like to be lumped in with the idiot squids who do 200mph down the highway popping wheelies and running people off the road. Remember, it only takes one bad apple to make the rest look bad.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
