Idling problems

#1 Unread post by Darklord0 »

I need help. I just bought my first motorcycle a 1993 Suzuki Katana GSX600F. Ive only had the bike for about a week. The bike had sat all winter but started up and ran perfect when i bought the bike. I accidently some how turn the gas switch to pri and left it on that for a few hours till i noticed the smell of gas. I started the bike today and it is having trouble idling, if i dont give it gas it just dies. Sometimes it runs for a bit but it wants to not idle. My stepdad said we should probally change the plugs and give it a oil change and see if that helps. I was going to do that anyways as a routine maintenance. What maybe causing the problem, please help, i dont know much about motorcycles.

Keeping the petcock on PRI (Prime) is not a good idea overnight. It turns the vacuum operated petcock into a gravity feed type. Prime should only be used if you run out of gas and need to send fuel to the carbs quick. The carbs probably overflowed into the cylinders and fouled the plugs. Recommend changing them. Or try to start with no choke and all throttle to clear it out.
CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE REGULARLY!!!
