insure the bike, and then call them to get the new rate after you pass the test. if your insurance company is any good, theyll do it for ya, iof not, start shoppping for a new company.

[edit: please don't resort to name calling]

Insurance will still cover your bike even if that person isn't on the insurance. Insurance doesn't cover you for the most part, it covers the bike. As long as the bike is insured, if someone borrow your bike, and wrecks it, it's still covered. The reason the put specific people on the insurance, is because A) it needs to be in someone's name, and B) because they want to know who is normally riding the bike, so they can base the rates on that.

I got a rental to use, so I am good now. I wasn't expecting anyone to lend me a bike, but I wanted to give someone here a chance first to make a little money. I want to clear things up as well.

1). New Jersey has a graduated license program. I have to go a year with restrictions on my license to be able to get my full license. That year is not up for me yet, so New Jersey does not let me get a waiver from the MSF class. I am taking it because I feel it is something I should take for my safety.

2)The insurance companies I looked at had high prices even if I had a license. The difference between other companies and Rider Insurance(what I want), is atleast $300. Progressive also doesn't insure motorcycles in New Jersey. Rider won't give me insurance until I have a license because I am under 21, so I decided not to get insurance and register my bike until I get a license. It is cheaper for me to do what I'm doing right now.

have you checked out dairyland insurance? they have some of the best rates around for motorcycles. I pay a grand total of $84 a year for insurance on a 500cc bike, and I have a less than perfect driving record.

insurance won't cover somebody else riding ur bike, if you don't believe me, let one of ur buddies ride it all he wants untill he wrecks it, all insurance co's are lowlife snakes they will find any excuse not to pay a claim then the will lie lie lie and tell you awwww you have nothing to worry about we are just here to help you, when you hear that line that really means they wanta screw you. Oh yea? did you ever check ur current insurance accident record lately? Ask ur insurance agent to print you out a current accident and claim record and watch him sweat and make up some lie or some excuse or tell you he doesn't know what ur talking about, what they do is dream up accidents and claims and put it on ur record and you don't even know it. That happened to me twice, I had to get a court order to force the insurance co to clear off the record an accident I never had.

I don't know who you have insurance through, but mine isn't that bad. I agree, insurance companies will do anything to not have to pay, but legally, if the bike is insured, anyone can ride it and be insured (or at least my insurance is like that).
