humbling moment

#1 Post by Bugg » Wed May 17, 2006 3:38 pm

so I dropped my bike today, at a blistering 3 mph, I was pulling away from a stop sign, and tried to avoid some gravel in the road, I swung a bit wide and tapped the curb, which was also made of gravel and down it went, I tucked into a ball and rolled onto my feet, absolutely no damage to me or the bike, so I picked it up and kinda laughed at myself, when I heard 'Hey man you ok?' --of course someone had to have seen that!

I still can't beleive what a noob move that was, after riding for nearly 7 years

Fine at 105 mph, but deadly at 3!

those kind of drops are always the worst for one's pride. First time I dropped my bike at a stop sign, I was just starting to pull away and make the (slight) uphill right turn and stalled it. bike tipped over onto the right side, just as a schoolbus full of junior high kids came around the corner.

damn, that's embarrassing

Haha, yeah, small embarassing drops are the worst. At least when you get in a real accident, you can go around telling people "yeah, I crashed my motorcycle, I'm HARD CORE!" But just dropping the bike, you try not let people hear about it.

hahaha, well id rather not be hard core if it requires me crashing my bike. though i agree taht small silly drops are more an ego shot than a real problem. 1st week of riding i was making a u turn at 5mph or so, was leaning to far, and i felt it slipping, so i just laid it down, of course i look up and see a dude on a R1 at the opposite light looking and just cracking up. . . gosh the humilitaion of stupid drops is a drag.

The worst is trying to start it when it's in gear, without pulling in the clutch. Both times were in front of friends.

Man I made a n00b mistake like that at a stop lite. I didn't realize the bike was in 2nd gear. Everytime I tried to pull away the dam bike stalled. Took me about 30 seconds to figure it out.
