Not to long ago I told ya'll that I was buying a HD Sportster 883. Unfortunately the military has decided that due to my Asthma I cannot be employed here anymore. So in the next 90 or so days I will be coming back to the states looking for a place for the family and I to live.

The other big problem is that driving a motorcycle in Europe would have doubled my insurance. YIKES!

The good news is that my GoldWing is still waiting for me. She is in storage in the Mojave desert of California. Oh and if you guys know anyone who is looking for a comptuer administrator...I am looking for a job...:frusty:

I don't mean to hijack the thread but they can throw you out of the service for something like that?

Technically you shouldn't get into the military if you have asthma.

Correct - but you can get waviers to get in if you have Asthma. The Air Force wont look at you if you have it. The Army might take you.

I develped asthma because of a rare lung infection caused by "Valley Fever" and a resulting pnumonia.

Because I develped Asthma while I was still recieving pay from the service they are required to cover the issue but they are going to remove me from the service and give me some money. All I really want is to keep my military ID card and to keep my BX and Commissary previlges. Not sure if I will get it but I can hope. Sometime in the next two months I get to go to Texas to plea my case in front of the Medical board.

Yes but it is at the descretion of your commander. If the commander decides that you can still serve you will. The Major and I sat down and talked at lenght about the issue. We came to the decision that even though I wanted to retire after 20 years in the miltiary; it was time to part ways.

The problem is that I cant run anymore. So if I stay in at my next yearly PT Test I will fail and be unable to run. You have a couple tires to pass the PT Test then it is up to the commander to either boot you or to give you another try. My commander told me that after a couple failures he will boot me. So that means that I will be booted out for failing the PT Test and given nothing. If I go the medical route I will at least get something. All because of the Asthma I got while serving.

If I had more time in the service (15+ years) there is a program where they keep you no matter what...but I am a couple years from that. Right now I am doing what I think is right for me and my family.

So because I am getting out I cant get the HD (see how I plug it back into the thread...) 8)

My father in law who tought me to ride takes her to work a couple days per month. She hasnt been just sitting around. When we get back he says the front forks of my GW and his need to be redone. He is going to take a Thursday and Friday off so we can get both bikes back on the road, then take a trip up Rose Canyon when I get back.

My wife and I want to go back to the west (Colorado eastward) or to Texas. But honestly I will go wherever I can get a job. I am a UNIX admin and a Firewall (Sidewinder PIX Juniper) Adminstrator by trade, but I have Cisco training and long haul circuit training. Also have a strong background in RF Administration as it pretains to networks and Windows Networking experience. If you can help out I would Greatly Appreciate :D

[edit] Forgot to mention Sun 10 experience. I can program in C++, Java and C but I prefer to leave programming to other people [edit]
