I wouldn't make the big generalization that everyone who buys liter bikes does it to look cool. While many young kids may do it, I am sure there are a few out there that bought their liters for other reasons.

I wasn't generalizing I was breaking down the reason this guy crashed. Notice when people crash on overpowered (for the road) sportbikes they always said this would have happened on any bike. Its funny how they are usually doing some kind of aggressive riding on some curvy road. Like I've said before I was just as much squid as anyone (maybe not verm). The bottom line still is unless you are on track days, there is no reason to get a liter sportbike besides to be cool. Its not like you can use the power on a public road, its not even like its a big difference vs a 600cc. Its all about the 'I can pay money to be cool'. Not saying anything is wrong with that, a Ferrari is a nice car, but come on when you do go down trying to be Rossi, say what it is.

People may not agree with me and that is fine, a liter sportbike will always be overkill on any public road (similiar to how a H1 has no use on public roads).
You are allowed to buy what you like but don't get mad when people call you out for what you are. Myself included at one time (well ok still).

Reading the above post, I kept changing from shaking my head, to nodding my head. I agree with parts of it, and I disagree with parts of it. Yes, liter supersports will always be an overkill on the road. Yes, almost everyone buys them to be cool. But, many people buy a liter bike, than take it out for track days, so the do end up using it's full potential.
