How much luggage for a weekend trip?

#1 Unread post by Skier »

I'm looking at getting a tank bag for my Rad, since I plan on taking it on some longer weekend trips, eventually. The tank bag I want is backordered until July, and it's a nice big one (Teknic Freeway tank bag). I think I can get a Nelson Rigg 950 tank bag sooner, but it's just miniscule. I've heard it can hold a change of clothes and a pair of sneakers and that's about it. How much stuff DO you need on a weekend trip? I figure I could strap a tent on the back of my bike, fill the tank bag with food and a change of clothes and put whatever else I need in my backpack. I supose that'll keep me out of trouble for a few days, but that's running really light weight. Some tips would be appreciated.

Better dig out my Aerostich booklet on lightweight motorcycle travelling... :humm:

Each person varies. It depends what you like to wear, where you're travelling to, what you'll be doing, etc etc. Some people may wear tshirts and jeans all the time. Others may wear more style. You may be travelling to a place where it's hot during the day and cold at night. There are many variables to consider. In general, a daily change of underwear is obvious. You have to determine what you will be doing and what you like to wear while doing it. perhaps a few pairs of slacks/pants, a few pairs of different shirts, a sweater or light coat, change of shoes and a credit card for when you have to buy what you don't have ...LOL. Just envision what you will be doing and plan accordingly. It won't hurt to take extras if they fit.
