Don't feel sorry for him if he was in an accident. He was reckless and stupid, and he knew it. He liked living dangerously and he paid the price. There is always a price. I'd just be thankful he didn't hurt anyone else.

If I ran around with a torch covered in gasoline I dont think I'd get many sympathy cards if I caught on fire.

He probably could have pulled the clutch lever and unlocked the back tire... but he paniced and all told was probably right to just slide it to the shoulder.

That's what I was thinking, he could have just pulled in the clutch and rolled to a stop.

Running at redline for 10 min. (i.e. max power) is not a wise idea for most motorcycles (and air-cooled bikes in particular). They are not designed to put out max power continuously. The occasional burst of power is fine, but if you max it out and just leave it there, you're asking for trouble.

Agree with Dieziege about the clutch. If you're into the habit of pushing your bike at high speed, you should have the habit of being ready to pull on the clutch knock off the throttle if anything happens to the drive train.

sounds like he bagged the motor and he really should of known that racing corvette with a air cooled japanese cruiser was a disaster waiting to happen, lucky he wasnt a bug splat really.

At 90MPH if he unlocked the rear tire after it siezed wouldnt the motorcycle try to correct the tracking line thereby throwing him off the bike and High-Siding him?

I always thought that if your back wheel did that it is best to just ride it to a stop....
