Exactly. But go sit on both of them. The 500 is (for me at least) a bit of a reach for the bars, hence quite uncomfortable.rnr262 wrote:The Ninja 250 or 500 would be a good choice. Both of them meet your criteria, and have great reputations.
Ya right,
there are only 2 kinds of bikes: It's a Ninja... look that one's a Harley... oh there's a Ninja... Harley...Ninja...

Yeah, I'm kind of in a struggle between choosing 250cc and 500. The Ninja250 is very inexpensive, but not as much as the 500. Right now I think I'm going to get the 500 because it has more power and I don't want to be reselling the bike. Plan on keeping it. I'll know for sure when I go to the dealership and sit on both of them

people who say the 250 is too slow/underpowered are the same people who have never ridden one. it is NOT $2000 slower than a 500. it will break the posted speed limit in all 50 states. yea, its a little slower on acceleration than bigger motored bikes but i think someone just said its comperable to a camero z-28 in the 0-60. the 500 is not that much "more bike" a lot of people dont sell their 250's even if they get a second bike. not to mention the 250 holds its resale value about the best of any bike.
definatly go sit on both, but dont discredit the 250 if you havent ridden it because its not a "little kid bike" that you'll imediatly get bored on the way the up-selling sales people will tell you it is.

Remember, the 250 can put hp to pavement that is comparable to some cars. And it weighs under 400lbs wet. That's a recipe for a giant grin right there...
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Yeah, thats why I'm still wondering which one I want lol. I mean the price alone is incredible, knowing how fast I can go and all on a bike. I'm certainly not going to discredit the 250's because I've heard a ton of good things about them and all. Plus I'm not getting into the world of motorcycles because I can go really fast.
Getting a 250 will let me pay it off really fast or right when I buy it at the dealership. Will also make it easier for me to get all the gear I need. I'm going the whole nine yards as far as gear goes. Not gonna ride with just a full helmet and t-shirt, shorts, and flipflops.
But yeah, I won't fully decide until I actually sit on each one.

the siting is the most important part. you gotta go with what feels good to you.But yeah, I won't fully decide until I actually sit on each one.
Tip: if the bikes are too close together in the show room and you can't stand it up without hitting another bike, ask if you can pull the bike(s) out into the aisle so you can get the full effect of flat-footing the bike in the upright position.
and dont forget controls. its not "wrong" to wear gloves while you play with the controls to be sure they are comfortable even with riding gear on.

When I bought my new jacket I went and sat on a bike, then proceded to sqiurm around on it every which way to make sure the jacket fit.
Getting a bike is the same idea, squirm around on it, make sure it fits.
