Code: Select all

SR 2
    [LOS ANGELES & VENTURA CO.'S]
IS CLOSED FROM ISLIP SADDLE TO 5 MI WEST OF BIG PINES (LOS ANGELES CO)
- DUE TO WINTER STORM DAMAGE - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE
http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/sr2

Of course that just means you go to the closure, turn around, and go back... but I live a few miles past the other side of the closure... so I'm out.

I think Islip is about 40 miles east of the 210...

I think the closure is about in the middle of This area ... the nw/se road on the right side is big pines.... but I've only gone there from the east side (the west side would mean driving all the way around to the 210 and back in, then turning around and going back :(...)

The road was washed away, supposedly quite a few miles of it.

We had some fairly major fires in that area in '03, followed quickly by rain storms that did huge damage. Hundreds of houses destroyed among other things. This was some of the "minor damage" they haven't gotten around to fixing.

I haven't been up there... but I have been in other places in the same area where the road and quite a bit more was about 500 feet down from the roadbed.
