Turn signals - 74 honda cb360

Hi there. I just picked this bike up. it's only got 1400 miles on it and after giving both carbs a good cleaning and rebuilding the petcock she sounds brand new. My only two problems are tiny.

#1 The turn signals come on and even try to blink, but wayyyy too slow. The wiring is real clean and seems to be sound. Anyone know the part that seems to have failed? all the lights are strong and bright and come on immediately, they just don't blink.

#2 The horn. Looks great, has good connections.... but it doesn't honk. I can probably handle this one on my own! Any recommend against using a newer generic horn?

Any tips are appreciated.

Sounds like the flasher relay is toast. I don't know exactly where it is located on your bike, but you should be able to trace the signal light wires to the flasher relay.

when you find it, mark the wires so you know where they all hook up, then pull out the relay and go get a new one from your local auto/motorcycle parts store.

flashere relays normally make a clickinig sound when they come on. Even if you lights dont flash, the initial click might still be heard. It might just be easier to trace to source of the click.

Im also workinig on some circuitry for building ur own flasher relays. the yamaha's cost a fortune. Stay tuned.

Oh does anybody know about the hall effect ignition for yamaha xs650. I;ve been trying to hunt down schematics for that. It costs like 250$ but Im sure the electronics dont cost that much put together.

Your horn problem is probably pretty easy.

There's a little adjustment screw on most horns. Try fiddling with this to see if it frees up the horn. If not, take the thing off and give it a few good whacks and try again. The bit that makes the noise is probably just a litle corroded and stuck.

May I ask what you did to fix the horn? My CB360 horn honks like a champ when connected directly to 12V, but not at all when connected. I've purchased an aftermarket horn and it doesn't honk either, so perhaps it is the switch?

Or the wireing/connections to the horn from the switch someplace....

My old horn was just so rusty it wasn't worth fixing so I put a new aftermarket horn on there and it worked the first time. Sounds like you might have a different problem than I did.

Aye, judging by your other post, you reeeaally need to go thru the wiring on this bike. I know it sucks but it's gotta be done
