Hi Folks. This is my first post here so I hope I get it right. I'm planning a ride from Providence R.I. to Gettysburg around the end of June. So far I would like to head right down, see the sights for a day or two, then take a slow ride back. Northbound, I'm looking at rte 11/15 along the Susquehanna river to maybe Scranton. From there I'm not sure. I would like to get to the Catskills maybe via Livingston Manor, the ride though them to western Massachusetts then home. I would certainly appreciate any suggestions on some nice routes. I enjoy secondary roads. The interstates are good for getting there. But heading back I'd like to relax. I'm planning onm 5 or 6 days.
Thanks Dave. docsouce@yahoo.com
Scenic ride back from Gettysburg
I live in Central Pennsylvania near State College, Penn State U, If ur in Gettsyburg, I would suggest a ride west on Rt 30 to the mountains, you will start hitting the mountains just west of Chambersburg, its steep, hairpin curves with big dropoff cliffs. Another place in Pennsylvania is a ride in northern Pennsylvania along Rt 6 between Galaton, Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and the town of Couldersport, Port Allegheny, and in between there and State College and Clearfield is the most beautiful country in the eastern US, the Simminonhohning Area, you will see an area thats unspoiled, deer and elk crossing the roads. I ride up in that area all the time, friendly people, bunch of good old boys, nice bars where they have outside bon fires at night, girls are friendly and laid back, no cell phones no computers fresh unspoiled country girls.

I have a post about Gettysburg if you want some info about the place.
A couple of days there is more than enough. Don't foget to go to the museum first.
