I've been riding for about a year now and when I first started someone gave me a "biker's" wallet one of the ones with a chain. My question is how many of you out there use this type of wallet? Is it really necessary?
I put in a couple thousand miles with my plain-jane single fold leather wallet sitting in my jean's back pocket without a problem. I was worried the first few times out, but she never abandonded ship on me. Now that I have a riding suit, it goes in a zippered pocket for easy access at gas stations. No worries about it falling out, either.

i have a guinness wallet with a chain on it. ive always had chain wallets just because i like it. but i do feel safer on the bike with the chain. for a short time i had a regular wallet i was paranoid it would fall out and kept checking it was there.
I use the bikers wallet (or truckers wallet) with the chain. Very happy with it. I also added a dog collar snap to the belt strap and I put my bike keys on it when I leave the bike. I have never lost a wallet or keys (knock on wood).
