Thanks, hope that good luck goes a long way, because I really want to keep this job.
So I went in for my first day today, and I'm very happy about it, and really hope I can get him to let me stay on after my evaluation period thing.
The job is awesome, way better than any job I could hope for. I get to sit in the back of the shop and repair laptops and get paid $24 per hour of labor. I worked 9 hours today, but only got 4 hours of labor because I was trying to get into the flow of things (learn where all the tools are, etc.). Anyway, so if I get to keep the job, I should be able to get at least 6 hours of labor a day.
6 * 24 = 144
144 - 22 (%15 taxes) = 122
122 * 5 = 610
610 * 4 = 2,440
That's $2,440 a month. Which is waaaay more than I thought I would ever make. Even if you take out gas (commute) for $5 a day, that's only a $100 a month. So $2,340 a month... sweetness.
Damn I hope I can keep this job.

Are they gonna let you keep the job?
edit: I just saw in another post that they are.
Cool!
I ditched public school way early but was quite the scheming con artist at 15 so have never had to deal with the whole "you have no experience" thing... I just grabbed a job as a computer programmer and have never been unemployed since. Glad to see the tradition is not dead!

Ride it like you think owning it matters.

So I talked to the insurance people, of the guy that hit me, and they're giving me $1,000, plus I'm keeping the bike! That's awesome, because I was expecting $400 tops, I've spent $400 on repairs so far, and I'll need to spend another $100. That means the other $500 is going to pay back a loan to my gf's mom, and make a payment on my bike to my uncle.
Oh, and a side note, I let my gf ride on the back of my bike for the first time, but just around a parking lot, I wanted to get a feel for the added weight. Now I just need to order her a helmet and jacket, and get my full license, and we'll be able to ride together!
