If you feel it that bad go for it.

But you might still want a beater bike for a season ;)

Monsters are a breed all their own, though I recall reading that part of the reason it's a monster is that you have to conform to it, it doesn't conform to you.

they call Ducati twin engines L-twins because the cylinders make a 90º angle, where the normal V-twin makes a 45º angle, making them look like their respective capital letters L and V. Make sense?

I've never seen a Ducati in person.. I wouldnt even know where i could get a european bike in WI.. prolly in Madison, Milwaukee, or go down to Chicago.
sv650 is a 90 degree "V-twin"

90 degree or 45 degree are all V-Twin.. the name comes from its orientation in the frame.

He actually sold you on the dark rather than the gloss versions? He really isnt trying to take money out of your pocket, the Dark is a cheaper model than the red or gloss black versions.

I think the Dark is the classier bike anyway.

Air cooled means that you don't have the maintainence concerns of watercooling

5 gears isnt a problem, its one less gear to forget you are in, although if you want to drop the extra coin on the twin disk version Ducati throw in an extra gear for free

and you can always erm and err in the dealers over whether you should get the 620 or wait for the 695 in June, that should help bring the proice down.

And, I'm sure this wont be the last time I say it How the hell can you get bored on a motorbike?

It_does_not_happen, leastways it dosn't happen because the bike is "too small" - this phrase upsets me greatly*, when was the last time you got bored having sex???

All said, $7,000 for a new 620 ducati dark? Thats nothing in the greater scheme of things.

Well, the Ducati Monster 620 Dark is at my personal-limit for what I think is safe and sensible for a beginner in terms of power.

They look beautiful too.

They are fairly pricey. I look at a $7000 beginner bike and think, "At that price, I could get TWO Ninja 250s AND have $1000 left for gear."

But, if it is something you can afford and you like it, I say go for it and enjoy. And don't worry about the scary dry-clutch noise. It's SUPPOSED to sound that way.

Kal... I got bored of my Honda Shadow 750 very fast :) Big difference between sex and riding a bike IMO.

There-in lies the difference between a biker, and some one who just rides.
