Q:how many sales people at the japanese dealers even mentioned safety course?
A: none.
Then i explained that i liked the "sporty look" but wasnt looking to break the sound barrier and i really liked an "upright" position, he walked past a lot of really nice BMW, Triumph, and Ducatti's before bringing me to a ducati monster 900 something?
wait... before you go crazy...
he said i would not recomend this bike for a beginner, its way to much bike. but, this shares the exact same frame with the monster 620, which we dont have that in stock right now, but we will have one in a few days.
*in my head* - wait? dont you want to up-sell me like everyone at the other places i visited? the 620 would probably be the cheapest new bike you sell here. Think of your commission man!
So i climbed on, and fell in love.

Its got a sporty look that i love, but the ride position is much more upright. The guy was totally no-presure and said if i take the class before i buy he would knock that off the price of the bike because he feels that strongly about it. he also hooked me up with some info about a customer of his who might be able to hook me up with insurance. (he said i should shop around but this guy rides and knows bikes so he would be worth a call at least)
Honestly, the bike is a little more than i was originally looking to spend, but i think i could live with this bike for a while, rather than getting a "starter only" bike that i would bore of quickly and end up buying a bigger bike anyway.
Im going to the class this weekend and assuming i pass, i'll be licenced by next week. if i can get all my payments (bike and insurance) under a certain point, i will probably own that bike within a month. sooooo exciting.
If any of you have any input, id be glad to hear what you think positive or negative.
Thanks for listening.
