Just makes me glad that I live in the middle of nowhere without interstates to travel on my way to work. However, I WILL need to watch out for those pesky animals crossing the road. Wish mother nature would teach them to look both ways before they cross!

I've been thinking for a while that we need mandatory annual re-licensing exams for car drivers. Now I'm gonna add pyschological profiling to that!

(Y'all know that I'm not really serious, but there are people out there that make me want this..............)

lol you think that's bad? I work at a gas station. we have 8 self serve pumps, and 8 full serve pumps. with two entrances. on a busy road. So many people come close to having accidents in the parking lot, much less pulling out of the road. I heard that one truck left the lot sideways during first shift the other day and almost took out a pair of bikers.

And we have tim hortons in Maine, too. Though really only down in Portland area from what I've seen. Duno about the northern ends of the state though.

It sounds like she was probably bleeding from her spot!!!

Around here you're only responsible for damage that results from a piece of your vehicle coming loose. I'd just say my tire must have kicked it up and get away scotch free. She shouldn't have been following that close anyways

"dog". I just don't get why people think it's so important to not let a single person in their lane. Like letting a couple people in is going to cause them to be an hour late.

People are completly different when they get behind the wheel. Some are so timid when not driving but turn into monsters when in the driver's seat. As far as the spots go I think its cause people forget to think of the long term. They're not thinking what difference will this make 30 minutes down the road, they're thinking I've gotta beat that guy.

Devil's Avocate here...

First off, her response after the fact was downright unnecessary and childish, so don't think for a second that I'm defending her threatening reaction to what happened. BUT...I can't help but wonder, CNF, if you only looked in your mirror long enough to see if someone was in the next lane and where, without pausing long enough to notice if she was gaining on you at all. I get this all the time whether I'm in the cage or on the bike. I'll just be cruising along, minding my own business (in the left/passing/fast lane) and just when I'm about to overtake some "slow and easy wins the race" kinda guy following a semi or whatever, the guy jerks his car over into my lane and proceeds to pass the semi (or whatever) at 1mph faster than it's going, causing me to literally hit the brakes. This happened to me last summer in my Stanza while I was on my way home from work. The freeway was relatively empty, save for a late model Honda Accord following a semi about a quarter mile ahead of me. I was running 75mph with the cruise control on, just listening to music. When I was about two car lengths away from overtaking said Accord/semi combo, the Accord driver decides to jerk over into my lane and proceed to pass the 65mph semi @ 66mph. I had to hit my brakes to keep from rear-ending the guy, and ended up riding his "O Ring" so he couldn't play it off like I wasn't there. Little did I know the freakin' State Troopers had an airplane in the sky that day and I ended up with a $103.00 ticket for "Unassured Clear Distance".

Moral of the story is, take the time to notice if the vehicle in your mirror is gaining on you at all. If you had simply waited 2-seconds longer to change lanes, the lady probably would have been past you by then and this never would have happened. It's easy to lay the blame on her, especially since she was a jerk about it, but you may very well be guilty of the "Me first" syndrome in this scenario.

It could have been either scenario, a couple of seconds makes a big diffrence. But the fact that she was acting like a jerk and tailgaiting him, makes me think that she sped up on purpose This happens alot here, people don't like to let people change lanes, even when there is something like construction up front and you HAVE to change lanes. I'm glad she didn't smack into you while she was having her hissy fit.
