Not entirely true... My old insurance company fixed their rates by the displacement of the bike.
A 600cc super sport could be less than an 800cc cruiser.
Try to find a company like that.

What's the name of that insurance company?

Some diligent work on finding the lowest price ins will save you tons of money. From word of mouth I found an agent who saved me 100% of the lowest qoute I got on the internet. The coverage I got, along with the deductable were much better also.
As for the bike you want to get, I would probably say you should get something like an SV650.

I'm sure their quotes aren't the same for everything, but try Safeco. I went from paying $689 a yr/full coverage to $196/yr full coverage on an 05 SV650S. When I get my new bike it will bring it to $528/yr for the SV and the new bike (more than likely a Daytona 675).
I highly recommend them. Ask your motorcycle dealership if they have a insurance guy that can help you get a low rate.

if you want a sportier bike that is not considered a sportbike by insurance look at the yamaha FZ6. Its a slightly detuned R6 with a comfy seating position. the SV650 is also a good choice, but typically is considered a sportbike because of the S model
