The problem lies in the fact that motorcycles rarely stay upright for long periods of time, which would be the only time a fuel gauge would read anywhere near correctly. Not to mention that in such a small tank, acceleration and braking forces would cause the indicated level to rise and drop greatly.

I'm still waiting for a good fuel gauge...

You might be able to drop those bombs, but I'm pretty sure the
Japanese make most bikes...

Technically, motorcycle tanks rarely have strong lateral forces imposed for any great length of time... if they did the bike would fall over. The forces tend to be fore and aft (Acceleration and deceleration)... but even that can be dealt with.

I was told to be nice by the members of the board of TMW, any fuel injected system with an electric fuel pump has a return line, if you had a petcock you would need it to do 3 things at the same time, the first thing the petcock has to do is shut down the electric fuel pump, 2nd shut down the fuel feed line and 3rd shut down the return line, a reserve is impossible, there is nothing to measure the fuel in the tank, an electric fuel pump has no brain, it has no way of knowing what level of fuel is in the tank. With no gas guage the best way to measure the fuel in ur tank is measure the miles on ur odometer, my bike needs fuel when it reaches 130 miles, 65 miles is half full.

I think that you might need to word that a little differently. The fuel pump has nothing to do with the fuel level. The purpose of the fuel pump is to create a flow of fuel, not determine how much fuel is left in the tank.

Probably the biggest reason why there is not fuel level gauges on fuel injected bikes is because it is more ideal and cheaper to have a low fuel level sensor and a idiot light than it is to have the fuel level float/sensor and a gauge. Less is more, right?

Mine doesnt even have an idiot light. To be honest though I dont miss the fuel gauge at all...one less thing to distract me while I'm riding.

My bike has a fuel gauge and a reserve valve too. I mainly use the trip counter. The gauge works good, best time to read it is on a straight road while riding. Don't count on it when riding with a side wind.

Are you saying that the Blast doesn't have an idiot light, gauge or a petcock with reserve? I'd be doomed on a bike like that. I watch the odometer most of the time, but I'll occasionally have to go to reserve if I haven't been paying attention.
