Scraping stuff is mostly a cruiser/standard thing. Sportbike designers usually take high lean angles into account. But not always.
Back in the 80s a Kawasaki rep brought some new bikes out to the track for us to play with. I took the first ride on a Ninja 900 (the original Ninja). As I spent a few laps tearing up the track, I kept feeling a scrape on the tighter turns. When I pulled the bike into the pit, I mentioned to the factory guy that the pegs scraped pretty easily. His eyes started bugging out and when I got off, I noticed that the lower fairing was nearly scraped through on both sides.
He agreed it was due to a bad design and didn't give me much heat. After all, I was just a Novice class racer. Imagine what one of the pros would have done to that fairing

Well I've never scraped any pegs on my lightning, but I think it would be pretty hard to get the bike that far over in the first place.

I think your tires would run out of traction before your lightning scraped a peg. the lightning and firebolt have a factory spec max lean angle of 50 degrees. You would need race tires or REALLY sticky street tires (like pilot powers or metzler M3s) to get much past a 45 degree lean.

I remeber when I scraped the pegs on my VT500 Ascot. It was great! Scraped them several more times after that.
Never scraped a peg on my F3, just scuffed up my boots pretty well.
I scraped the head pipe on my V-Max one time. After that, I installed stiffer springs and a Gold Valve Emulator!

what I did was remove the footpegs and grinded the bottom rough on my electric bench grinder, then reinstalled them, now I show off the bottom of my footpegs to my friends and have them fooled thinking I scraped them on the road.

Did you get an "L" tattooed on your forehead too? 'cause that's really cool you know...
