Wish they had that in my part of the country.
we did until this year. We had 2 tracks in the denver area that did regular track days, both of those tracks closed at the end of last year.

nearest track is now in pueblo. MRA now runs half its schedule at miller or hastings both of which are a hike.

if i can't make it on time for that org...

i'll use this one instead... http://www.mtctrackday.com/home.shtml

they only use willow springs.

it's only open lapping though so that's why it's way cheaper.

There really are no bike requirements for the track. It just has to be in good working condition, headlights/taillight/signals/mirrors all taped or removed, throttle snaps back, tape on a few other parts, and certain parts safety wired. And that's about it. We had guys out there on dual sports and guys out there sportbikes. Even had a guy on a vintage 50's looking bike with the giant bubble in front, and a guy on a Harley cruiser (although it wasn't one I recognized, it was...sportier).

So really any bike (other than a pure dirt bike) will work just fine. Honestly I don't think you'd want to take a Goldwing or Superglide or anything like that on the track, but any sort of sport/standard/sport tourer works great!

Really location is a big part. Just because I live near one of the tracks used on the AMA circuits it means that everyone wants to have a track day there, so there's alot of opportunities for me.

And no, I've not taken my bike out there yet. But soon hopefully!

When you do ride the track, please post your experience.

Very interested to know how much fun that is.

I will, although I'll go ahead and tell you is it going to be a blast. Everyone I've talked to (other the the guys who flub up and mess up their bikes) is grinning from ear to ear when they get off the track.

Here's the pictures. It looks like the majority are from the Saturday session, but there's a few from the Sunday group too.

16bl, the guy on the blue bike with the yellow helmet is my riding buddy. A bunch of the other guys (including 03blk, the instructor on the black R6, and wht03, the girl on the FZ-1) are in my riding club as well. 365rd is in our club, he's an Expert rated WERA racer as well, but didn't go very fast as he spent most of his time riding slower with his girlfriend (271si, who also races WERA) and teaching her. And I believe 744blk is also in our club, although I dont' know him. He's on the new '06 GSX-R750.

wht04 is the guy in our club who went down in the gravel and tore his new Interceptor up...poor guy.

Good group of riders, some very fast, some slow. Overall it was alot of fun (although I wish I'd been on the track instead of working Pit In!)

Ooh, those are nice pics. Makes me wish I had the gear to hit a track day. I'll have to hope Santa is good to me so I can find one next summer. :)

Getting the gear really isn't too bad. If you've got a leather jacket with a zipper on it just get some leather pants that will zip to it. Get some gauntlet style leather gloves (you can find those for $20 if you look) and some boots that cover the shin and you're good to go! Oh, well, I suppose that to me it goes without saying, but a full face helmet is a requirement.
