I voluntarily gave up 10 hours of my Sunday...what was I thinking!

Anyways, I got there at 7:00 AM and (being my first track day to work at) the put me on Pit-In (really easy). It was fun, and I got free lunch and learned a few things from watching people. It was kind of funny, probably the single fastest guy on the track was on an SV650 and by far the absolute slowest was on a Hayabusa. It was odd though, all but one of the instructors had never riden at Barber before and didn't know the track, my friend who has ridden there several times showed them lines, gave pointers, etc :P

It was cool though, we didn't have any cowboys at all in this group, some pretty good riders out there too. Especially some chick on a Honda NR125, didn't think I'd ever see a 125cc bike fly past a GSX-R1000, but she kept up with the best of 'em. No one got hurt (although a guy in my riding club low sided into some gravel and scratched the everloving heck out of his new VFR, and another tore a large portion out of both sides of the fairing on his F4i) and everyone had fun. Also, it was overcast so it wasn't sweltering like it has been recently down here. We even got a few drops of rain but it never let lose, just helped cool things down.

Verm would be happy, someone even rode his new '06 Gixxer 750 red/black (he was a decent rider, although a little timid with that much power). We had a few WERA racers in the group as well (including the guy on the SV650 who went so fast and another guy on an R6 who didn't go fast because he wanted to take it easy and teach his girlfriend some, although I heard from more than one person that if he actually pushed it he'd have easily whipped anyone out there pretty easily).

Can't wait to ride in my first, hoping for September!

Nope, I didn't, but some lady did and said she'd post them on a website tomorrow.

Only pictures I took was of the guy on the VFR right after he got there. I hope he treasures them because I don't think the bike is going to look that good for a loooooooooooooong time!

This is one advantage of living 20 mins from Barber and about an hour from Talladega Grand Prix Speedway, our riding club does ALOT of track days!

heh!

at least he's using it to try and improve at the tracks. you go to the tracks to explore yourself and your bike's limit at a controlled environment.

better there than at the canyons like what happened to me.

how does one get involved with track? what are the requirements, how much does it cost, what mods have to be made to the bike?

it depends on which track org you use... they have different policies and pricing.

here's the one i wanna use...

http://www.trackxperience.com/index.html

most of the stuff they require you to do are pretty common for all trackday orgs.

Checked out the track site. Very cool.

Have you taken your bike on it yet?

HOLY CR@P!

i checked their sched... last time they'll use willow springs this year is gonna be this labor day.

dang! that's the only track i can go since the others will be too far.

they still have some space... maybe i should register now and worry about the other stuff later.

i promised to myself that i'll get a trackday before this year ends... this is gonna suck if i miss this. :(
