With full coverage you are probably looking at $1500+ a year.
eh?
i'd still get full coverage even if i didn't finance a bike unless it's really old and don't have a high market value.
having it stolen or totalled(by you) is gonna suck really bad.
im paying around $670 comprehensive on my gixxer750 K6. i could have gotten it cheaper if it wasn't for my ticket.
Personally I operate under the following theory for comprehensive coverage on a bike. If you drop it there's one of two ways you're going to drop it:
1) At a stop - in which case the deductible will be most of the cost of the repairs, so it's pointless to file because you have a claim against your insurance account and your premium will go up
2) At speed - where you'll either do less then the deductable again (I did) and make it not worth claiming OR you'll write the bike off. In which case your premiums will go up so much that your "O Ring" puckers.
I don't think I'd ever get comp on my bikes, but I can afford to outright buy a new one if I destroy this one.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
