Do you know how old your friend is, because im 17 and I have been really looking into getting that exact bike, but I am afraid that the insurance will be way to much on it
He's 30 so it will cost you more. And he didn't finance the bike so he didn't have to get full coverage.

With full coverage you are probably looking at $1500+ a year.

eh?

i'd still get full coverage even if i didn't finance a bike unless it's really old and don't have a high market value.

having it stolen or totalled(by you) is gonna suck really bad.

im paying around $670 comprehensive on my gixxer750 K6. i could have gotten it cheaper if it wasn't for my ticket.

I'm 25 and I'm paying $400-something for full coverage + passenger medical payments with a low deductible.

I would get higher coverage too, but its not my bike. My friend chose to only get liability. If the bike is stolen or totalled its his problem not mine.

I'm 22 riding 2006 GSX-R 600. I'm paying ~1300/yr through progressive for FULL coverage including uninsured motorist. "Multi-car" discount, and MSF discount.

I'm 24 and ride an '04 BMW K1200RS. I have full coverage and pay just around $1000 a year for insurance. That's with the MSF discount and a perfect driving record

Personally I operate under the following theory for comprehensive coverage on a bike. If you drop it there's one of two ways you're going to drop it:

1) At a stop - in which case the deductible will be most of the cost of the repairs, so it's pointless to file because you have a claim against your insurance account and your premium will go up

2) At speed - where you'll either do less then the deductable again (I did) and make it not worth claiming OR you'll write the bike off. In which case your premiums will go up so much that your "O Ring" puckers.

I don't think I'd ever get comp on my bikes, but I can afford to outright buy a new one if I destroy this one.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I have an 85 magna v30 that I have full coverage on with full medical and a $250 deductible... why?

$150 a year baby!

That's for a 23 year old male AND a 22 year old female who only has a permit.

Rock on

24 and I have a 2002 Ninja 250. Paying $114/yr for liability-only. I live in a pretty safe area and my bike is cheap, so not too worried about theft. YMMV, though.
