after getitng my 650 classic, i looked at the 1300.
I was surprised that they went to a 1300 w/ the 1100 selling relatively well. I wonder if it was meant to compete w/ the 1200 Sportsters ( higher CC). The price point is way too high though in my opinion.
Personally, i dont like the radiator- Never been a fan of them. I think the 1300 might be comparitivly priced close to a road star, in which i'd get the Roadie hands down

Been told by a Yamaha rep that the 1300 was thought of to narrow the spread between the 1100 to 1700 Road* as some v-star 1100 riders wishing for a bit more power ended up shying away from the 1700 road star because they felt it was too big and heavy and would end up going to another brand in order to find something in between, hence, the 1300 star was born.
Although i love the sound and the feel of the Roadstar, and have been told the 1300 is a dream to ride, i still LOVE my 1100 V*

MotoF150 cracks me up. I think you guys should just take him with a grain of salt.

They don't make grains big enough.

12k is only too much for the V-star 13 because you can get VTX13's and even VTX18's for less, let alone many other offerings from other metric companies.

But give it a while. It's only so expensive because it just came out. In a year or 3 I can pretty much guarentee you that you could pick up a Vstar 1300 for the same price as a VTX1300.

12k isn't too much to pay for a "japanese bike" and the fact that you say that devalues actually good products. Especially if you go on to say "I'd get a BMW or Victory for those prices." I've ridden several victories...and while their nice, I can tell you their not worth the extra $ more than my VTX1800 IMHO.

Moto, If you came into my store with attitude like that, and an obvious chip on your shoulder against "japanese bikes" I wouldn't give you a test ride, let alone much of my time.
