Don't carry the title with you. That's what proves you own the bike.
License, reg, and insurance is all you need.
What papers do you need on you when riding?

License is in my wallet.
Proof of insurance and registration are in a Ziploc freezer bag and stored under the tool kit on my '87 XV535, which is located under the seat. The seat on my bike is a flip-up seat that gives you access to the battery, gas cap, and toolkit. It's auto-locking and only opens with the key.
Title is at home in the filing cabinet, but I'm considering getting a safe deposit box to store that kinda stuff.

Registration is what paper you get when you register your vehicle with the state dmv. The title is like a deed, it proves that you own the vehicle.Dohun wrote:JW what is the registration?? I thought that was the title.

Like on a car, you have two stickers, inspection and registration. Then you need your license, and insurance.

In Texas, all you need if you get pulled over is M license and proof of insurance. Registration and inspection stickers must be current, and the officer will run the tag to make sure it corresponds to your license info. f you are driving a borrowed car or riding a borrowed bike, he'll run the VIN to see if it is reported stolen.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
