I find that my balaclava works for short (<5 min) trips, then gets saturated with moisture and then I get fogged up again. I have this same problem and intend to give one of the inserts a try. Thanks blues2cruise.

I've found that liquid soap, will stop my glasses from fogging up as well as anything. It doesn't last forever, but it does last long enough for me to get out of the driveway and the parking lot at work, which was where I had most of my problem.

After a while while though what happens is they don't fog, but they do build up drops of water. Since I like my helmet visor cracked it's not a big problem once I'm moving good.

It's not a cure all, but it's cheap and easy. I clean my glasses, then rub a little soap on the lenses front and back, then carefully buff it off. Be careful not to scratch the lens. It might help with a helmet faceshield too in a pinch.

In my experience, balaclavas make it worse. The extra bulk of material blocks off what little fresh air was coming up from underneath or through the vents. I wear one anyway, and just keep the visor propped open slightly. I rigged a little plastic dohickey for the visor to rest on which keeps the wind blast from blowing it all the way shut.

I have one of these and it has been awesome. No fogging, and on top of that, no problems with halos that visor inserts give a lot of folks. It was $20 and I'd recommend it for anyone. Only downside is trying to talk to people while you have it in - it really muffles you. That's an easy price to pay though!

A FogCity insert will run you about $20 for clear. I've got a FogCity HyperOptik insert that lightens to yellow in lower light conditions and gets darker in bright light.

As for the light halos at night, you get used to it.They're worse if your visor is dirty. The key is to make sure your visor is CLEAN inside and out when riding at night.

Now seriously. Mine only gets a little foggy when I'm stopped. So I pop the visor until I pull away. While I'm moving it doesn't fog at all. Maybe open the side vents on your helmet?

Believe me, all the vents on mine are open. Vents don't do much on my HJC. I wear an HJC because it fits, not because I really wanted one...

I have an HJC 3/4 and I've noticed that the vents really don't do much. I didn't know if it was poorly designed vents or that you really don't notice with the 3/4 . It is a comfy helmet though.

My FF is an Icon and it seems to vent ok. Nothing great but as I mention, no fog when moving so its doing something right.

I have a HJC Cl-15, and I can really feel the vents working. I think the airflow improved alot though after I put the WindJammer II on the helmet.

That Foggy Face Guard looks similar to what the HJC breath Box is. Although that one covers the sides of your cheeks. Only problem I see with it, is that it would cover up the two vent ports my helmet has infront of the mouth, where the breathbox has cut outs for it from what I hear.

But I still think the overall quality would seem to be better than the breath box.

Edit: My visor only fogs up when at a a stop for a good while waiting for a light. Which suprises me, since nearly every pair of goggles, face masks, etc have always fogged up when I wore them. I thought I would have so many problems with my helmet, but i havn't. I noticed I had more fogging when I havn't cleaned the faceshield in a long while. I just use regular liquid soap and water.

that sucks!! i guess im privaleged because my helmet has an anti-fog air blower thing.

but that only works at high speeds, at low speeds, I, too have to freeze my face and keep the shield a little up
