I'm only going to answer your first question because everything else seems well covered.

I've put 24000km on my bike in about 11 months of riding time, and I was hoping for more. Bike's in great condition too :D!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

sorry for the necrobump, but I bought my first bike today, and after a few minutes of trying to get the clutch contorl right I took off for my first ride. Then it ended about 20 feet later with me laying on the ground with the bike ontop of me. lol. It hurt a little but now I know I can lift the bike off myself and stand it up alone. And good news is I have only a few scrapes and my bike only has a rashed bar end. Freaked my parents out a bit tho. Biggest thing I noticed was I keep trying to put my feet down instead of braking. idk i'll get the hang of it.

Heres pics of my new to me bike, its a '99, had 12k on the odometer, also came with a V&H 2-1, and a Zero Gravity windscreen. all for 2100, i thought it was a good deal, but not totally sure. After a few weeks Im going to do some flushmounts, some tireflies, and an LED kit.

heres a picture of these two hoses I found that weren't attached to anything, neither of them smelled like fuel though, but idk if that matters.

AYE CARUMBA!

Glad you're ok.

Congrats on the new bike.
But you should take the MSF before you try and ride again.

Riding isn't something you just "pick up". It's not really that intuitive.

I like your Ninja though, very nice. Take care of it and yourself.

Lol, how are you okay with a ninja 500 falling on top of you?? You are lucky the handle bar didnt smash into your CALVE (the other side of your shin, its quite jiggly, Im not talking about Hell bovines) or something.

Take your MSF before you get bad habits. That drop was completely unecessary, and was 100% preventable with a little reading and proper instruction.

Congrats on the bike, you made a good choice for a first one. Take it easy, and go take the MSF.

Those hoses are probably breathers or overflow. I'm guessing the black one is a breather or something to do with emmissions and the clear one is a carb overflow tube. I could be completely wrong as I'm not familiar with your bike though.

LED kit? Now we see why you got into riding. Let me guess... the look? I wouldn't worry about any improvements at the time being. Take the MSF course and until then park it. Some people I say have a go, but I have a feeling that you'll be best served by professional instruction

I dont want to be a snark - but one cant ride because of the look AND the joy of riding? If it were just about the riding, then every cycle would look the same no? No body work just the bare essentials - and looking at some of you folks bikes I know thats not the case.

um, no I didn't get into it for the looks or I wouldve got a huge sport bike or something. I want to do this for the same reasons many other people started, the ride and everything that goes with it. Aesthetics are just an add-on, not going christmas tree on my bike, just something to spice it up and maybe add some visibility.

And yes I plan on taking the MSF course, but the only one near me is booked until april.
