I don't think the bike is too small. It's a mid size bike. What you might consider is if the bike is physically too small for you. Are you over 6' 2" and maybe over 220 lbs? If so, then the bike may be a bit small for you.

My first question would be;
Why do you ride?

If you ride because you enjoy riding, then the Vulcan is fine. :D

If you are more concerned with image, then get the biggest, baddest, meanest bike you can find. :smoke:

What the HD Guys say is: "That rice burner doesn't deserve to be on the same road as a HD",, or,, " Where is the box of rice to pour in ur gas tank" When the HD Guys make fun of me I with threaten them with my choice of words and they always back down. What you need to understand the guys that own HD's are nothing without their HD's, they think just because they own one they think everybody is going to be afraid of and to respect them at the same time, they think that you think they are better just because they own a HD and you don't. Next time corner them and watch them back down like a mommys boy.

Re: Does Size matter?? Vulcan 800A too small?

Ride what you like and feel comfortable on. I'm a big guy, over 250 lbs, and started out years ago in a 550 Suzuki. Didn't take me long to figure out, I was not comfortable on this 'little bike'.
Went up to an 850 Suzuki. Big and comfortable. After that to a 1400 Suzuki, big but smaller in stature. I enjoyed the bike, very maneuverable, but too small for a big guy on a long cruise.
Now ride a 1700 Yamaha (shown on the left). Big bike for a big guy. It's comfortable and can cruise all day.
Like I said before, ride what you like and feel comfortable on. If you're trying to impress the girls and the Harley crowd, get a big cruiser.

I think the harley non harley rivalry is typically a friendly one. You trade a few barbs, smile at the others ignorance and go back to enjoying your ride

There are the occasional problems but that's life.
