Does Size matter?? Vulcan 800A too small?

Hello all,

Heres a questions I have: Ok I'm 35 yr old 5'9 145lbs. I picked up a brand new 2004 Vulcan 800A 2 years ago. Now this Vulcan is the 800A not the Drifter but the one that looks like a Softtail. Anyways, the bike fits me well and the thing is though sometimes I feel the bike is too small. For instance, I had a few harley guys comment " thats a nice little bike" or I remember pulling along side a woman rider and she was on a HD Dyna I think and I felt soo small on my bike compared to her. It seems as most every bke out there now a days is huge and most of the bikes I have tried out were too heavy or seemed too wide or big than I wanted or was comfortable with except a very small few. So I'm wondering id if I should consider steeping up to a bigger bike. I Love the 800 but Im wondering if taking it on a long haul or riding 2 people if this bike will do it comfortably and without looking like we are on too small of a bike. Any thoughs would be cool thanks

How do You feel on the Bike. Thats important.
Anytime you ride a new bike it seems different and you are not immediatly at home on it.
I went from a sportster to and FLH (Touring harley) and when I picked it up from the dealer, I was sure I made a big mistake. It felt like I was on the back of a cow.
Two weeks later, a friend and I traded bikes. He had a Dyna wide glide. It felt like I was On a Mini trail...so small. I had become conforatable on the big one and it handled like a dream.

I have found over the years to buy what you like and you will adjust to it in a few weeks. (providing you can touch the ground etc.)

Dude I have both an Vulcan 800a (an 04 even) and a Road King.

While I would definately ride the King for road trips, the 800 is more than enough bike for anyone.

Ignore the Harley guys who say both "nice little bike" and my favorite "when you gonnna get a real bike" (my response to that was when yours will outrun this one) they are just suffering from tiny wee we disorder.

Ride your ride.

Tell them to ride their own bike.

If you like the bike you're riding, there's no need to get something else! Whatever makes you feel best on the road, when it's just you and the pavement, that's the bike for you.

If what other people say gets to you that much, maybe have some fun customizing it in ways that make it a bit more flashy (probably not literally flashy...)

If the bike is big enough for you, who cares. as long as you enjoy riding it thats the main thing.

don't worry 'bout it...the guy prob didn't mean anything by that comment.
its a nice bike...but its smaller than his. he's just stating the obvious.

and bikes come in all different sizes. don't worry about whose ride is bigger and worry about that minivan full of kids and the distracted mom.

I pulled into a Harley dealership the other day to look at the Buells... Parked between a VROD and a highly personalized Road King, guy who got off the Road King says "Your bike better be careful or it's gonna get raped out here... Told him that that'd happen as soon as his bike grew something to rape mine with... He looked kinda pissed, wonder why

Blow it off man. Do you like your ride? I love my Yamaha Vision. Made in 82 and looks more than dated. I've had people "poo poo" on it, but what do I care. I know that my $400 bike gets better mileage, better acceleration and is more unique than their "custom". That and i saved thousands for the same joy he has in his bike.
